Seven Sisters
After exploring the Tower of London in the morning we took a train towards Seven Sisters National Park for the afternoon. We took the London Bridge train to Brighton. We then took a bus from Brighton to get to the Seven Sisters coastline in the town of East Dean. We got to experience a double decker bus on the way to East Dean .
Once we arrived, we walked from East Dean along Birling Gap Road until we got to the coastline. Along the road we saw many sheep and and some beautiful scenery.
When we hit the coastline we made it the Birling Gap - Seven Sisters visitor center and the Birling Gap shore staircase. We explored the visitor center and then took the stairs down to the coast. This was our only opportunity to be down by the water as the rest of the hike would take us up along the rock cliffs.
After enjoying the beach for awhile, we then went back up the stairs to start our hike on the South Down way that would take us up and down the seven sisters cliffs. From the East Dean road to the end of the Souh Down way it’s about a five mile trek.
It was incredibly windy on the hike! This definitely made the hike more challenging but also made it more fun in a way.
The hike gets more and more beautiful the farther you go as you crest and descend the many hills of seven sisters.
It was much more of a challenging hike than we expected with all the hills! And maybe it’s because we kept getting more tired the farther we went, but each hill we crested seemed steeper and steeper haha. But it was all well worth it for the absolutely incredible scenery along the entire hike.
As we neared the end of the hike, we passed through a gate that led us inland through fields filled with sheep, wildflowers and cozy cottages. It was a very beautiful landscape.
Once we made it back to the road we caught the bus back to Brighton. Once in Brighton we stopped for dinner and then back on the train to take us back to London. We were so happy were able to take this afternoon excursion away from the city to enjoy this amazing area. It is well worth the couple hour journey to get here.
